Evie Powers is a 2026 graduate from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design with a minor in sustainability. Evie grew up in the Cleveland, Ohio area and resides in Boston, Massachusetts. She is a multidisciplinary artist who blends fashion design and fiber arts. She primarily works in wearables, creating bespoke ready-to-wear garments outside the trend cycle and considers herself somewhere between patternmaker, sewist, and fiber artist. She is interested in innovation in the fashion world and has worked within BioDesign and robotics as a means for exploring alternative methods of design.
Evie strives to connect her work to prominent issues within the fashion industry and finds it deeply important to learn history and techniques from those before her as well as fellow contemporaries. In return, she strives to create work that educates the viewer or wearer on some element of her process. She explores themes of sustainability through discussing overconsumption, toxic production processes, and recentering what clothing means to the everyday wearer. Evie’s goal in her work is to reintroduce home-sewing knowledge to a population that has quickly forgotten it. Currently, you can see Evie exploring these themes through the use of fabric manipulations, surface design, natural dyeing, embroidery, smocking, and machine knitting. She enjoys keeping a playful touch in each garment she crafts and finds the process just as important as the end product.
